Shot list

Shots Number 1-4 (Approx time- 20 seconds)Medium close up (MCU)
Description;
As this is totally different from the codes and convetions from our AS film opening we don't have to start with an extreme long shot. The first collection of shots in the same location will be between the two main characters to allow the audience to focus upon them and their relationship.
Analysis;
We will be using the tecnique of shot reverse shot to give a feel of a conversation but the main girl will be projected onto a white sheet. This is very important and links with the end of the video. You can see the main character (male) with a worried expression upon his face (could be interpreted as depressed) reaching out for the girl's projection. This is symbolic showing the audience that his relationship with the girl is non existent, also could be symbolic that the girl is 'just out of reach'.

Shot Number 5 (Approx time- 8 seconds)
Medium long shot (MLS)
Description;
This shot is of the main character (male) walking backwards throughout the woods. Symbolising 'time reversing', again very important linking with the end of the video where time will return to normal.
Analysis;
The shot initially looks odd, as hands are flung back which is irregular but the audience realises why at the end when you realise this shot is not the regular shot that was filmed, but edited into reverse for effect. Not revealing everything at this point as we want some ambiguity for the audience.

Shot Number 6-9 (Approx time- 15 seconds)
Medium close up (MCU)
Description;
These collection of shots are through a path we made in bushes in Cuckoo's Hollow. We made this path using garden shears Isaac provided. The male character is following the female just a few steps behind symbolising his love for her, not quite at the same pace in their time lines.
Analysis;
These shots are purely used to show the audience that the male character is chasing the female and not vice versa. We have included other types of camera techniques such as unfocused-focused transition in one shot (opitimised in the award winning 'leaf shot').

Shot Number 10-11 (Approx time- 5-8 seconds)
Extreme long shot (ELS)
Description;
Side on view showing the male character emerging from the trees into the open. This follows by a 'viewpoint' shot over the male characters shoulder showing the female behind some kind of barrier. Preferabaly a river, she will be stationary looking at the male lead from across the water.
Analysis;
The barrier shows a clear divide between the characters symbolising their relationship, the question is, what is this barrier symbolising?

Shot Number 12-13 (Approx time- 8 seconds)
Close up/Extreme close up
Description;
These two shots will be a close up of the main females eye, as she already has blue eyes this symbolises purity. The close up of her eye will straight cut to an extreme close up of the same eye, the straight cut will coincide with the naturally blinking.
Analysis;
Blue eyes playing on traditional views ranging back to Hitler's reign that people with blue eyes are part of the 'master race'. Also shows the main female lead to be pure and innocent.

Shot Number 13-17 (Not definate) ( (Approx time- 20-30 seconds dependant on many variables)
Medium shot
Description;
Shot reverse shot of the two characters either side of a tree, not aware of each others presence. They are both holding old fashioned cups attached by string as a communication device. Isaac writes the words 'You look like a thousand suns' (in correlation with the music) on a piece of ragged paper and puts it in his cup. Lauren then recieves the message in her cup and (using a over the shoulder shot) shows no message on either side of the paper.
Analysis;
Many different symbolised actions and intentions are used in these series of shots. Firstly, the paper Isaac writes on is crinkled and torn around the edges, symbolising his mental state, the paper is also incomplete symbolising a part of him is missing (implying the missing part is Lauren). While Lauren's piece of paper is rectangular and complete showing that she is not aware of Isaac's love for her which is shown by the blank piece of paper she recieves. The whole shot is showing that Isaac is trying to send messages to her (subliminally) but she seems to dismiss these and not be aware of Isaac's intentions.

Shot Number 18-25 (Approx time- 30 seconds)
Medium close up (MCU)
Description;
These collection of shots will be Isaac creating bubbles floating across the screen. These bubbles will have memories in them of the two characters in the past.
Analysis;
The bubbles in themselves symbolise fragility. By putting memories in them of the two characters, we're showing to the audience that there relationship is also delicate. Also, the memories show that these two have a past together, maybe friends? maybe they used to be in a relationship? All is left to the audiences imagination leaving them thinking.

Shot Number 26-29 (Approx time- 15 seconds)
Medium close up (MCU)/ Medium Long shot (MLS)
Description;
We're not completely sure on how we're going to shoot this shot yet, but we need to include a controversial shot with Lauren with another boy. Isaac will then consequently be upset which will lead onto some emotional shots.
Analysis;
This allows us to add another emotional depth to our video which will make our audience feel sympathetic to Isaac. This is important as he is a character who is meant to be felt sorry for, almost like a lost puppy, the girl he loves seems to ignore his existence... or does she?

Shot Number 30-38? (Approx time- 15 seconds)
Range of shots in quick succession
Description;
A class favourite, the flashback. We will be using a collection of shot that we have already previously used but edit them with a lighter background showing the audience that its from the past. The shots will also get progressively faster as the song is fast and basically it creates a 'cool' effect. This will create another level of intertest for our audience as the same types of shots repeated over and over again will being boring after a while.
Analysis;
The series of shots used from the flashback will be especially chosen to reflect the characters mindset, it also will follow the previous shot of Isaac looking worried/thinking. This series of fast succession of shots will end up with a blur of shots ending with Isaac walking down a road by himself (in correlation with the pace of the music).

Shot Number 39 (Approx time 15 seconds)
Medium close up
Description;
Isaac is walking down the street by himself towards the camera which is panning backwards at the same angle and height. This walk starts to turn into a fast paced energetic walk which turns into a run.
Analysis;
The transition from a slow walk to run shows his desperation. This follows from the flashback of the main males mindset which implies hes trying to find Lauren.

Shot Number 40 (Approx time 15 seconds)
Medium long shot
Description;
Isaac comes to an opening in the woodland again, coincidental with the start of the video. He then starts to cry on scene showing his emotions.
Analysis;
Pretty simple shot, purely to show how the whole situation has taken its toll on the main character and the emotions hes feeling.

Shot Number 41 (Approx time 5 seconds)
Medium long shot
Description;
We have found a very nice clearing in the woodland area we are filming for this shot. Isaac walks through this natural 'gateway' and returns to where the music video began.
Analysis;
Nice scenery coincidental with the scenery from the start showing the audience hes returning to the area in which the video started. All leading up to the climax of the video.

Shot Number 42 (Approx time 8 seconds)
Medium shot
Description;
This shot is the exact same as 'Shot number 5' but instead of the character walking backwards (symbolising time reversing) he is walking forward back to the projection.
Analysis;
Links very cleverly back to the start of the story, returning (as they say in most criminal dramas) to the scene of the 'crime'.

Shot Number 43 (Approx time 5 seconds)
Medium shot
Description;
Again, reverting right back to the very start of the video, the shot has Isaac from the side panning left horizontally to the projected image on the blanket. Isaac once again reaches out and as the projection disappears we see Lauren standing behind the sheet, the screen goes blank and the video is over.
Analysis;
The shot leaves the ending to the audiences imagination... Why is she behind the sheet? What's the purpose of this? We have done this for that exact reason, optimistics may interpret this as shes finally recieved the subliminal messages from Isaac and has 'surrendered' to his love and his projected image of her has become a reality. Or pessimistics may believe time has returned to a time when their love was a reality, only for time to continue as normal and the story is repeated over and over again.
